For fans looking forward to Suicide Squad, you have to follow the film’s writer/director David Ayer on Twitter. The guy loves dropping great teases from the set and production of the film and his latest is the best yet. Production starts very soon on the DC Comics film, scheduled for release August 5, 2016, and Ayer posted a photo from the table read.
In the photo are Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Viola Davis and others. Noticeably absent is Jared Leto, who plays the Joker. Check out the Suicide Squad cast image below, which includes a few new faces too like Adam Beach and Ike Barinholtz.
So why no Leto? I’d guess it’s because they’re saving the reveal of what he’s going to look like for a later date. The actor was already on his Instagram a few days ago teasing the beginning of a transformation. It’s probably a good bet he’s got green hair by now, and we know DC loves to make big deals of reveals like that. Again, keep an eye on Ayer’s Twitter, much like another DC director, Zack Snyder.
The latest on the film is a rumor that it’s set between Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which will be released 5 months prior. That would help set the stage for the relationship between Batman and the Joker, which is expected to be a pretty big thing moving ahead.
Margot Robbie and Will Smith pose on the red carpet during a film festival to premiere their movie Focus on Thursday (March 26) in London, England.
The 24-year-old actress recently revealed that she had plans to direct films one day!
While on the set of Focus one day, Margot recalled to Who magazine, “I was probably bossing everyone around, as usual and John [Requa] and Glenn [Ficarra] turned to me and said: ‘Are you planning on directing one day?’” Margot said. “I said I was. And then they said, ‘Good. You’re going to make a really good director.’ That meant the world to me.”
A new clip has arrived for up and coming heist drama Focus starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie.
Will Smith plays Nicky, a seasoned con artist, who meets the seductively gorgeous Jess (Margot Robbie) who is looking to get into the con game. She has all the right equipment but she is a novice and needs guidance. Nicky decides to teach her the tricks of the trade, but as they become romantically involved Nicky breaks it off abruptly. Three years down the line whilst Nicky is in the middle of a con, their paths cross again putting him off his game and their lives in danger.
Check out the clip below which shows Nicky teaching Jess a few tricks of the trade and that it is all a game of Focus.
In case you were wondering where two of today’s greatest comedic actors are, as well as one very lovely Harley Quinn, they’re in New Mexico shooting a film adaptation of “The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan”. The three in question are Tina Fey, Martin Freeman and Margot Robbie of course. The story will follow that of the journalist Kim Barker as she traverses the cultures of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The book is described as a “darkly comic and unsparing memoir, with Barker using her wry, incisive voice to find the humor and humanity amid the rubble and heartbreak.” It’s not much of a stretch to see Fey in that role, and she’ll also be joined by the likes Alfred Molina, and Billy Bob Thornton.
Directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (FOCUS, I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS) are bringing this project to light, and while the book’s synopsis doesn’t do much for me, those two directors are pretty great and at bringing A-list talent to their pictures and building fun characters for them to inhabit. If you haven’t already checked it out, the trailer for FOCUS gives us the most interesting Will Smith vehicle in some time. As far as I’m concerned, Tina Fey and Martin Freeman rank as some of the most charismatic, so I’ll be curious to see how this one will looks when it hits.
This untitled TALIBAN SHUFFLE adaptation will probably see a release sometime next year.
Andrea Berloff will adapt Marisa Lankester’s memoir about her role in an offshore gambling empire
dangeorus-oddsWarner Bros. is in exclusive negotiations to acquire “Dangerous Odds,” a red-hot package featuring Margot Robbie as Marisa Lankester, a beautiful insider within the world of illegal sports betting, multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap at Sundance.
Warner Bros. and CAA did not immediately respond to late-night requests for comment.
Andrea Berloff (“World Trade Center”) will adapt Lankester’s memoir of the same name that chronicles her role in the creation of the first offshore gambling empire, which had ties to the mob.
Lankester helped move the business from Los Angeles to Las Vegas to the Dominican Republic, where gambling is legal. There, she became a victim of a dangerous world of corruption, as she was repeatedly raped by a general in the secret police and imprisoned in a “medieval hellhole.” The story has a happy ending though, as she escaped and moved to Switzerland.
Film 360 and Robbie and Berloff’s reps at CAA and Management 360 have been running the auction since Wednesday, and multiple buyers in Park City told TheWrap that the project was definitely heading to Warner Bros., which has a lot invested in Robbie’s thriving career.
Ahead of bringing Harley Quinn to the screen in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad film, Margot Robbie admits “it’s a challenge”.
The Wolf Of Wall Street’s Margot Robbie has no small amount of pressure on her shoulders right now, as she’s set to be the first person to deliver a live action take on one of Batman’s most popular foes of recent times. She’s landed the role of Harley Quinn in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad movie, and in a new chat with MTV, she’s been talking about taking the role on.
“I guess it’s intimidating because there’s obviously a lot of people I want to please, and a character I have to do justice. But it’s a challenge. I’m definitely up for it, and hopefully I don’t disappoint”, she said.
That said, there’s still some way to go before she steps onto set as Harley Quinn for the first time. “We’re still pretty far off”, she said, noting that “I’m actually shooting a movie before that. So my focus is kind of on that at the moment. We haven’t really got into the logistics of everything yet”.
The movie she’s scheduled before Suicide Squad is likely to be The Taliban Shuffle, for her Focus directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (they also helmed Crazy Stupid Love, amongst others). Suicide Squad, meanwhile, is set to start filming later this year, ahead of its August 2016 release.
One of the movies that has a ton of heat already focused on it even before the Sundance Film Festival begins is “Z For Zachariah.” Chris Pine, a brunette Margot Robbie, and Chiwetel Ejiofor co-star in this story that takes place “in the wake of a disaster that wipes out most of civilization,” according to the official synopsis. “Two men and a young woman find themselves in an emotionally-charged love triangle as the last known survivors.”
Craig Zobel’s last film that played here, “Compliance,” was a cold-blooded and intensely well-made look at a true story that still gives me chills when I think about it. I am a huge fan of his first feature film, “Great World Of Sound,” as well, and I am excited to see anything Zobel makes.
Today, we’ve got an exclusive debut for you of the first clip from the film. In it, we see a tender moment between these three friends, presumably as they’re starting to settle into this strange new world of theirs.
Check it out embedded at the top of this story. What gets me is that look from Ejiofor at the end of the clip, just as it fades to black. Things are not going to go well between those three. I’m also struck by how transformative something as simple as hair color is on Robbie. She’s a lovely young woman, but looking at her here, I don’t see even a hint of the Duchess, her character from “Wolf Of Wall Street.” I have a feeling Robbie is someone we’re going to be watching for many, many years to come.
And fingers crossed this is a great role for Chris Pine. I thought he was amazing in Joe Carnahan’s “Stretch,” but no one saw the film. Pine is too interesting to be locked down only doing big Hollywood action movies. There is a stealth freak hiding in there, and I want to see more and more filmmakers try to push him to new places onscreen.
Australian actress Margot Robbie and I Am Legend star, Will Smith smoulder in the brand new trailer for 2015 movie, Focus.
Smith stars as Nicky, a seasoned master of misdirection who becomes romantically involved with novice con artist Jess (Margot Robbie).
As he’s teaching her the tricks of the trade, she gets too close for comfort and he abruptly breaks it off in the movie, which is slated for Focus is slated for release on February 27.
Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto are officially set to star in Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. announced Tuesday.
Also cast in the movie based on the DC Entertainment villains-forced-to-be-heroes are Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne. Much of the castings have been previously reported, but the studio also confirmed which characters the actors will play.
Smith will play Deadshot, best known as a Batman villain, while Hardy plays the group’s leader, Rick Flagg.
Leto will take on the Joker, while Robbie will play Harley Quinn, his on-and-off girlfriend. Courtney will be Boomerang, while Delevingne, the model-turned-actress who is also in Warners’ Pan tentpole, will play Enchantress, a sorceress.
David Ayer is writing the script as well as directing.
Charles Roven and Richard Suckle are producing. Exec producing are Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder, who are already shepherding many of the DC movies, as well as Colin Wilson and DC’s COO Geoff Johns.
Jesse Eisenberg, who was rumored to be involved with the movie, is not part of the official team, nor the official cast, according to sources. But that does not rule out a cameo appearance for him or other actors playing villains or heroes in the Warners’ other DC-based movies.
“The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one,” said Greg Silverman, president, creative development and worldwide production, in the announcement.
“David Ayer returns to the studio where he wrote Training Day and brings his incredible ability to craft multidimensional villains to this iconic DC property with a cast of longtime Warner collaborators Will Smith and Tom Hardy, and other new and returning favorites: Margot, Jared, Jai and Cara,” Silverman continued. “We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under Ayer’s amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero.”
The movie has a release date of Aug. 5, 2016.
Australian actresses Margot Robbie, 24, and Rose Byrne, 35, are the frontrunners to play Princess Mary of Denmark in a new miniseries next year.
Earlier this month, Channel 10 confirmed it was bringing the story of Mary’s life to the small screen.
Titled Mary: The Making of a Princess, the production is being produced by Fremantle Media Australia – and according to the Gold Coast Bulletin – local girl, Margot, who recently starred in The Wolf of Wall Street is among the contenders to play the Tasmanian-born royal.
Mary Donaldson famously met Crown Prince Frederik during the Sydney Olympics at a pub. Four years later the couple were married. They now have four children, Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent.
The miniseries is expected to be shot next year in Australia and Denmark.
